Description / Expertise

Very rare pair of solid silver candlesticks that convert to vases by removing the sconces.  They are entirely hand-made, probably a commission request and made in the Egyptian revival style at the time of the opening of the Suez canal.  There is a miniscule difference between the candlesticks that is almost impossible to detect at first glance.   They are entirely watertight and would have been used for tulip heads as is the custom in the Netherlands.
