Description / Expertise

Very rare Victorian solid silver centrepiece featuring a mounted emu egg, made and retailed by the important Adelaide silversmith Jochim Matthias Wendt circa 1870.  These pieces rarely come on the market as so few were made and most remain in Australia.  Offered in very good condition it is only missing the few pins that hold the wooden base in place for transport.  It stands securely on the base and if desired can easily be pinned.
