Description / Expertise

Possibly a unique piece of social and antique history with this hot toast / cheese dish from the Duchess of Sutherland’s Cripples Guild circa 1910.  Pieces from this Guild are not common and are usually bowls.  This item has a detachable turned wooden handle that, when removed, reveals a secret compartment for hot water.  Simply fill, and it will keep your toast hot – or will serve your brie and camambert cheeses as they should be served.  All pieces by the Cripples Guild are totally hand-made.
